What aged players does Baraboo Youth Football serve?

BYF provides programming for 1st-6th grade students.


Grade level is based on the school year that starts in September of the season year. Example: A 1st grade participant for the 2026 season will start 1st grade in September of 2026.

When does the season happen for Baraboo Youth Football?

The regular football season runs from August to October. Tackle starts the first week of August and flag starts at the end of August.

There is an annual football camp held with conjunction with Baraboo High School sometime in July.

We also participate in a short passing league throughout April and part of May (this opportunity is currently available for 4th-7th grades.

When and Where are practices held?

Practices are held on the practice fields surrounding Baraboo High School and Jack Young Middle School.

Flag teams practice Tuesday and Thursday and play their games on Tuesdays and Thursdays.

Tackle teams practice Monday, Tuesday, and Thursday. Games are on Saturdays.

What equipment do I need to buy for my child to participate in football?

BYF provides all practice and personal safety gear necessary to play football.


Families need only provide cleats (for the older grade levels) and a water bottle. If your athlete wants extra equipment (gloves, sleeves, etc...) that is the family's responsibility. A good couple pairs of compression shorts are encouraged as well, but not mandatory.
